TITUSVILLE, FL — The leadership of Priests for Life today responded to news that President Biden will sign an executive order directing the Department of Health and Human Services to expand access to the pills used in chemical abortions, and to ensure that women are receiving all the abortifacient drugs and devices available under Obamacare.
In an unprecedented move, the government also will assemble a team of pro bono lawyers to defend abortionists who perform abortions in states and under circumstances where it is banned.
“The abortion industry is obviously running the executive branch of the federal government. That’s what happens when Democrats are in power. Yet there’s really not much the Administration can do,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “The law is what it is as determined by the people and not by Joe Biden. And breaking the law is breaking the law. Period.”
Executive Director Janet Morana said Biden is “signaling to the medical profession and the abortion industry that they can go ahead and break the law. He’s saying ‘we got your back.’ It’s despicable.”
Biden’s order comes two weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and returned regulation of abortion to the people and their elected representatives. Since then nine states have banned abortion and several others have implemented Heartbeat laws that protect babies from about six weeks’ gestation.
The order is yet another sign that Biden has given in to pressure from abortion advocates and raises the question of why he and the rest of the Democrat Party are so obsessed with abortion and beholden to an industry that profits from the murder of the youngest children.
