Priests for Life applauds Florida House for bill protecting babies from abortion at 15 weeks

TITUSVILLE, FL – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Janet Morana, Executive Director, today reacted to the Florida House passing a bill to protect babies from abortion from 15 weeks on.

“Florida has an interest in protecting its citizens, including children in the womb,” Father Pavone said. “This bill does not, unfortunately, eliminate abortion, but it does recognize the unmistakable humanity of these children. Lives will be saved, and that can only be a good thing. I applaud the House for passing the bill and look forward to the Senate doing the same. Gov. Ron DeSantis has said he would sign it, and that will be a great day for Florida.”

Mrs. Morana, who also co-founded the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, noted that several women in the campaign who speak publicly about their abortion regret had abortions beyond 15 weeks and experienced profound grief after ending their child’s life.

“We have women who say they wish there had been a 15-week law that would have prevented their abortions,” she said. “Their babies would be alive and they would have been spared the physical and emotional pain of a later abortion.”
