TITUSVILLE, FL — The Democrats’ “love affair” with abortion is making the deadly procedure even more dangerous for women, according to Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign.
She and others from Priests for Life were reacting to several recent policy changes in states and on the federal level that leave women and girls who have chosen abortion even more vulnerable to injury or death. “The Democrats’ love affair with abortion completely overshadows any concerns about women’s health and safety.”
The recent actions include:
• Illinois Gov. Jay Pritzker signing a new law to do away with parental notification laws in the state.
• New Jersey allowing people who are not physicians to perform abortions.
• The Federal Food and Drug Administration’s decision last week to permanently drop the requirement for women to see a doctor in person before receiving lethal abortion drugs in the mail.
“In this country, you cannot get many pain medications through the mail but you can go to your mailbox and find the means to kill your own child,” Ms. Morana said. “This also puts women’s health in jeopardy from – among other things – undiagnosed, life-threatening ectopic pregnancies.”
Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, noted that the FDA already has stopped reporting adverse effects, outside of death, for chemical abortions.
“A recent study revealed that emergency room visits for mothers following chemical abortion increased 500 percent from 2002 to 2015, the same years the number of such abortions was skyrocketing,” Father Pavone said. “This is clearly not a safe procedure, nor is it one that should take place independent of any kind of regulation or oversight.”
The study from the Charlotte Lozier Institute, he noted, also found that the rate of emergency room visits following chemical is outpacing hospital visits following surgical abortions.
Father Pavone and Mrs. Morana also point out that in their roles of overseeing the largest ministries in the world for healing after abortion, it is clear the traumatic reactions that follow abortion are swifter and often more intense for these chemical abortions than for surgical abortion, because the mother herself has become the abortionist and her home has become the abortion clinic.
“Every woman in this country, whether in favor of legal abortion or not, should be outraged by these new policies that put them, and their daughters, in danger,” Father Pavone said. “We must not let this public health danger become business as usual.”
