As Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee (SBC), I remain committed to ensuring your taxpayer dollars aren’t going towards fraud and waste.
On Tuesday, along with the committee’s Republican members, we continued efforts to not allow a vote on the Democrats’ nominee for Deputy Small Business Administrator until the Small Business Administration (SBA) recovers fraudulent Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds from Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country.
The SBA has wrongfully approved nearly $100 million in taxpayer funded PPP loans to Planned Parenthood branches across the country. On June 30th alone, SBA approved four PPP loans to Planned Parenthood affiliates despite a determination from the last Administration that these entities were ineligible for the program.
The original congressional intent of PPP was to limit large and well-financed groups from receiving a loan, and instead provide relief to small businesses. Democrats knew this was never about COVID relief or helping small businesses. It was their shameless attempt to fund their radical agenda and fund abortion mills across the country on the taxpayer’s dime.
SBC Republican members and I won’t let them get away with this. And we will only continue to block this nominee until the money is rightfully returned.
