TITUSVILLE, FL — Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to refer to the full Senate the nomination of Justin Walker to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
“Tomorrow’s hearing on Judge Walker will not only feature the usual sniping by committee Democrats on whether or not he is qualified, but will take place against the backdrop of the chief judge of the D.C. Circuit calling for an investigation into the circumstances of his nomination,” Father Pavone said.
“This is outrageous, of course, but is just one more sign of the Democrats’ increasing desperation as President Trump fulfills a campaign promise to reclaim the federal judiciary from liberal activist judges.”
According to the New York Times, the chief judge of the D.C. Circuit, Sri Srinivasan – an Obama appointee – has asked Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to have a separate circuit court look into whether there was anything unethical in the way the opening on the court came about.
“The Democrats will stop at nothing to prevent a third Trump nominee from being confirmed for the D.C. Circuit,” Father Pavone. “The court now has seven Democrat-appointed judges and four nominated by Republican presidents. The confirmation of Judge Walker will move the court towards parity.”
Father Pavone said Judge Walker, already a federal judge for the Western District of Kentucky, is highly qualified for the position, having clerked for Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and for Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he sat on the D.C. Circuit.
“He knows the job, he knows the D.C. Circuit and he knows the law,” Father Pavone said. “I look forward to Judge Walker’s confirmation by the full Senate. I also look forward to the defeat of the Democrats in November and four more years of stellar Trump-appointed judges!”
