WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Congressman Bob Latta (R-Ohio) today reintroduced the Support and Value Expectant (SAVE) Moms and Babies Act that, if signed into law, would strengthen federal control over chemical abortion methods.
“Abortion-inducing drugs are used to take the life of an innocent child and they can place the mother’s life at risk,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “We thank Senator Hyde-Smith and Congressman Latta for their determination to protect women and their unborn children.”
Two years ago, Senator Hyde-Smith introduced the Support and Value Expectant Moms and Babies Act of 2019. As does the current proposal, that bill would have prevented changes in the labeling for already-approved abortion drugs—such as removing Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS)—to prevent abortionists from prescribing abortion drugs remotely, by mail, or by telemedicine.
SAVE also prevents the Food and Drug Administration from approving new chemical abortion drugs.
