Now, Good Friday…
This is such a sad day. On this day we commemorate the suffering, death, and burial of Jesus. We have universal prayers for the world, venerate the cross, share communion, and leave in silence. The service is often planned so that it will end around 3 P.M., at which time it is believed that Jesus died. It’s a very solemn day.
The color of the day is red. As I tell the children I teach, red is a color symbolizing a celebration of great love. Good Friday has never really felt like a celebration to me, but when I reflect on it, in a way we are celebrating the ultimate love God has for us.

It’s a sad day but also a frightening one. Jesus, a Holy young man that did not steal or kill, was condemned and killed for speaking of his Holy father, God. It is a reminder of the opposition Christians face in this world, particularly in the West. I wish the Pope would speak more about this and be quick to denounce sacrilege and blasphemy.
