TITUSVILLE, FL – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today said he stands in solidarity with the Little Sisters of the Poor after the Catholic ministry’s religious freedom case was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
“Priests for Life stands with the Little Sisters of the Poor and with everyone in the United States whose religious and moral convictions are under attack by Democrat politicians at the state level,” Father Pavone said. “We have been through this battle ourselves, when our case, Priests for Life vs. HHS, was consolidated by the Supreme Court with six others, including that of the Little Sisters of the Poor, to comprise Zubik vs. Burwell, argued in the Supreme Court in 2016.
“The Court, and the election of President Trump, freed us from that mandate. And the Trump administration is arguing on the side of the Little Sisters, and all freedom-loving Americans, today.
“While Priests for Life’s permanent exemption is not imperiled in the current Little Sisters case, it always bears repeating that no one in America should ever be forced to choose between their faith and following the law.”
Father Pavone said today’s case is a reminder that elections matter.
“This problem is being caused by the Democrats, and it goes way beyond the Little Sisters. The Democrats do not want religious freedom, and anyone who loves the Church has to be careful not to vote for Democrat candidates in November,” Father Pavone concluded.
