From the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment

Good Friday is the most solemn day on the Church calendar. Together, we fast, we pray, and we ponder the great mystery of Our Lord’s suffering and death, His taking upon Himself the sins of the world.

This will be a Good Friday unlike any other for the vast majority of Catholics and Christians throughout the United States. The English poet and mystic Caryll Houselander sums our feelings up well this Good Friday 2020:

“The Passion of Christ was an experience which included in itself every experience except sin, of every member of the human race. Above all, Christ’s passion shows His way of transforming suffering by love. He shows us, step by step, how that plan of love can be carried out by men, women, and children today, both alone in the loneliness of their individual lives and together in communion with one another.”

While we are separated from each other physically, we can still carry out Christ’s “plan of love” by being with each other in other ways.

Quote of the week

“When I shrink from suffering, Jesus reproves me and tells me that He did not refuse to suffer. Then I say ‘Jesus, Your will and not mine’. At last I am convinced that only God can make me happy, and in Him I have placed all my hope…”
St. Gemma Galgani
