TITUSVILLE, FL — Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone and Executive Director Janet Morana issued the following statements today regarding a Heartbeat bill passed late Tuesday by the Iowa Legislature.

“I thank the pro-life activists and lawmakers in Iowa for ensuring that babies with beating hearts will be protected in their state,” Pavone said. “I appreciate Gov. Kim Reynolds’s commitment to the unborn, which she demonstrated by calling lawmakers back into session specifically to pass a bill that will reduce abortions in the state. Well done, Iowa.”

Mrs. Morana said the bill, which the governor plans to sign Friday, will also protect mothers from the physical and psychological damage caused by abortion.

“As we know from the women of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, abortion doesn’t solve a problem, it creates more,” she said. “Heartbeat bills ensure that fewer moms are harmed by this brutal procedure.”

Quote of the week

“When I shrink from suffering, Jesus reproves me and tells me that He did not refuse to suffer. Then I say ‘Jesus, Your will and not mine’. At last I am convinced that only God can make me happy, and in Him I have placed all my hope…”
