TITUSVILLE, FL – Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone is calling on all pro-life Americans to devote themselves full time – if at all possible – to ending abortion.

Renewing a call to action he first issued after the terrorist attacks of 2001, Pavone said in an email to supporters that “the violence of abortion and the violence we see in society share the same root: A disregard for innocent human life. This is a moral emergency. We cannot continue with our lives ‘business as usual’ while this holocaust continues.”

Pavone was ordained a Catholic priest in 1988 and five years later asked for – and received – permission from his bishop, New York Cardinal John O’Connor, to devote his ministry exclusively to ending abortion. Pavone took over as national director of Priests for Life in 1993 and still serves in that capacity.

The new call to action “is rooted in the spirit of Advent,” Pavone said. “We cannot receive Jesus while rejecting the unborn.”

Pavone said many pro-life organizations “are ready to receive people willing to give their time and talent to end abortion.” He urged those unsure of next steps to call Priests for Life headquarters at 321-500-1000 or to send an email to mail@priestsforlife.org

“Of course, there are limits to how much each person can do for this cause. But the point is to re-examine how much more we can do to adjust our lives to the battle, rather than adjusting the battle to our lives, and then to do as much as we can,” Pavone urged supporters. “Let’s devote as much time, attention and energy as possible to this life-or-death cause.”

Quote of the week

“When I shrink from suffering, Jesus reproves me and tells me that He did not refuse to suffer. Then I say ‘Jesus, Your will and not mine’. At last I am convinced that only God can make me happy, and in Him I have placed all my hope…”
St. Gemma Galgani
