Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today saluted Kansas for its commitment to the unborn.

The Senate this week voted 28-11 to approve a measure that would put an amendment on the state ballot in 2022 saying there is no constitutional right to abortion in Kansas. The House passed the measure last week.

“Kansans will be able to join those states that will protect babies from abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, something I believe will happen and for which I pray daily,” Father Pavone said. “People of Kansas have reason to be proud of their lawmakers.”

According to the Associated Press, the measure would overturn a 2019 Kansas Supreme Court decision that found that abortion is a “fundamental” right. Lawmakers would then be able to outlaw abortion if the procedure became illegal on the national level.

Quote of the week

“When I shrink from suffering, Jesus reproves me and tells me that He did not refuse to suffer. Then I say ‘Jesus, Your will and not mine’. At last I am convinced that only God can make me happy, and in Him I have placed all my hope…”
