TITUSVILLE, FL — Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Janet Morana, Executive Director, issued the following statements today as the nation celebrates Independence Day.

“Today we celebrate the God-given rights and freedoms our Founding Fathers articulated in the Declaration of Independence and fought so hard to defend, as have generations of Americans ever since.

“We should be proud to be Americans, and proud of those principles on which our nation stands, starting with the right to life.

“Patriotism is a virtue, flowing from the Fourth Commandment. It is proper to love one’s own nation and defend it, for the same reason that it is proper to love one’s own home and family, and defend them.

“Part of preserving what we are proud of is to prepare for the elections of 2020, and recognize the dangers posed, unfortunately, by the Democrat Party, which has abandoned any desire to protect the youngest children, and embraces policies increasingly destructive of America in other ways.

“On this Independence Day, let’s renew our resolve to extend the blessings of liberty to the children yet in the womb.”

Quote of the week

“When I shrink from suffering, Jesus reproves me and tells me that He did not refuse to suffer. Then I say ‘Jesus, Your will and not mine’. At last I am convinced that only God can make me happy, and in Him I have placed all my hope…”
St. Gemma Galgani
