Cabo Delgado has witnessed an enormous number of victims of this violence, terrorism and religious intolerance.
More than 3,300 people have died and nearly a million have been displaced. Chico is one of them.
Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) has just agreed to help the parish build a church dedicated to Saint Charles Lwanga.
“We trust that Jesus will put an end to the sufferings of our province of Cabo Delgado, so that this war that no one understands and tramples on everyone, ends as soon as possible.”
ACN has granted $190,000 in emergency aid because, despite international relief efforts, there is an acute scarcity of food and many people are starving.
More than 2,500 people have been killed and 700,000 have fled their homes since the insurgency began in 2017.
